In 2013, inVISION Studios was hired directly by the Missouri Department of Transportation to produce a video simulation representing the proposed Chestnut Expressway railroad overpass in order to present design solutions and address public concern with visibility of the adjacent retail and signage, especially from business owners.  The completed video aimed at calming concerns by depicting potential sight lines as seen from every vantage point while traveling on the new overpass.

The production consisted of creating an accurate digital model of the proposed roadway, the adjacent contours, several dozen nearby buildings, roadway signage, all adjacent commercial pylon and monument signs, the BNSF railroad, train engines and cars, existing vegetation and non-specific simulated vehicle traffic.  Approximately 2 1/2 minutes of video was programmed & processed representing aerial & driver's perspectives throughout the proposed overpass.

The resulting video assisted the Missouri Department of Transportation in communicating with local retail, land owners and other stakeholders in regards to visibility of new raised signage along the roadway and the maintained visibility of existing storefronts after the improvements are complete.

"inVISION Studios was hired to develop a 3D animation model of the Business 65 (Chestnut Expressway) Railroad Overpass in Springfield, MO. MoDOT used an animation on this project to help business owners and the general public better understand how the railroad overpass would look and how it would affect visibility of adjacent properties.
I hired inVISION in the past with the diverging diamond interchange at I-44 & MO-13 and their work was outstanding so it was an easy choice to use them again on this project. Once again their work was amazing and brought the project to life. The owner, Tom Waldschmidt, was very accessible and easy to work with. He is very responsive and is always available by e-mail or phone. His ability to understand and visualize what I’m trying to convey about a project is outstanding.  We received many positive comments at the public meeting stating how the animation helped with visualizing the project. This is a tool that should be used more often during the public involvement process. If you have a need for this type of service I would highly recommend inVISION Studios."
