Thomas Waldschmidt
President / CEO / Lead Production
When you make the decision to work with Tom, you’re getting an artist with a professional background in architecture and engineering that absolutely loves what he does, helping individuals and companies “see” what they imagine and present it to the world.
“Every new project is an exciting opportunity to help others envision their own design solutions”. Tom will often say he has not “worked” in 22 years! That’s because every day he gets to “play” with cutting edge 3D modeling and animation software and work with very talented designers, developers, and engineers that allow him to be the first to see so many wonderful buildings, roadways, and product solutions through his production process. “Producing a virtual model of my client’s concept, then going a little overboard to add that extra details and apply the latest lighting and rendering techniques to achieve visual realism is extremely rewarding in itself, but when I’ve earned the positive & appreciative reaction from my client, that’s the icing on the cake!”
A student of the University of Illinois School of Architecture, Tom was a pioneer in the use of 3D modeling and rendering applications. While many of the classmates were going through sheets of foam core and hot glue sticks, Tom was back at the Newman Hall dorm room with his Gateway 2000 4DX2-66V building detailed wire-frame models of his assigned projects. Ground breaking design visualizations like this lead to industry experience by earning Tom employment positions with engineering and architecture firms in Illinois and Missouri. Tom built upon his early love for 3D modeling by establishing visualization departments with two of the architectural firms he worked for prior to setting off on his own in 1997 to start inVISION Studios.
Today Tom focuses on his faith life, his wife Toni and their three children, and the advancement of visualization techniques in the transportation and architecture industries. Tom mentors his son Aaron who has similar interests in the graphic arts & design. Tom also enjoys spending time woodworking, weight lifting and what seems to be a never ending renovation of the families 110 year old farmhouse.
